HP StoreOpen Automation gets better, easier and wider connected with LTFS support for Windows
A new release of HP StoreOpen Automation delivers a solution for using LTFS in
automation environments with Windows OS. The new version - available as a free
download from November 2014 - will allow customers to connect HP StoreEver tape
libraries with LTO-5 or LTO-6 tape drives to Windows. Similar to the StoreOpen Mac and
Linux versions, it works with a single library partition with up to 4 drives and 48 slots.
HP is the only vendor that provides this tool as a free of charge
download. It is available from November 2014 at:

The new release comes with a Windows Graphical User
Interface (GUI) with a familiar look and feel to easily execute
LTFS commands. This removes the need for low level terminal
commands. StoreOpen Automation takes care of any cartridge and
robotic movements – customers just need to drag-and-drop files
and StoreOpen Automation does the rest.
Other functionality in this Automation version for Windows,
MAC and Linux operating systems includes a utility to perform
optimised tape to tape copy in the order the files were written on
tape, content verification calculating checksums during writing,
added search capabilities by integrating extended attributes and a
utility able to import/export tape by opening the import drawer.
Other utilities available include the cartridge browser, which
remembers all the cartridges seen by the library, even if these
have been taken offline, and allows customers to browse through
their contents.
HP StoreOpen Automation provides an easy to use automation
solution which addresses the data explosion in unstructured data
types such as rich media. It helps simplify the integration of HP
tape libraries to archiving solutions with vertical market workflows,
allowing designers, engineers and researchers to perform
archiving operations directly to tape without an IT engineer’s
involvement.
HP provides an LTFS solution for every sector of the market from
a standalone tape drive with StoreOpen Standalone, available
for Windows, Mac and Linux, through entry level, mid-range and
enterprise class tape libraries with StoreOpen Automation now
supporting Windows, Mac and Linux. Contact your BackupWorks.com account
