Nine new models of IBM 3599 tape media deliver the option
to order data cartridges for IBM TS1150 tape drive (machine type 3592, Model
E08).
The following 3599 models are available:
- 3592 Advanced Data
cartridge - Type D: Models 425,
525, and 625 provide up to 10TB R/W native physical capacity of storage
- 3592 Advanced Economy
cartridge - Type L: Models 435,
535, and 635 provide up to 2TB rewritable native physical capacity of
storage
- 3592 Advanced WORM
cartridge - Type Z: Models 445,
545, and 645 provide WORM storage on a 10TB or higher capacity cartridge
These tape media models have cartridge memory in each data
cartridge designed to help enhance functionality and reliability of the
media. This higher capacity tape cartridge media is supported when TS1150
model E08 is integrated or used in the TS3500 tape library, or when TS1150
HD2-compatible model EH8 is integrated or used in the TS4500 tape library
(machine type 3584) and standalone rack environments.
The latest versions of TS1150 drive microcode and library
or subsystem firmware may be required to support the higher capacity IBM
3592 Advanced Data cartridges.
Theese cartridges are designed for applications such as
archiving and data retention, including those applications requiring
security or an audit trail. Theys work with the TS1150 to help prevent the
unauthorized access, alteration, or deletion of user data, and are supported
by the encryption capability in the TS1150 model E08 and EH8 tape drives and
its associated IBM Security Key License Manager component.
As with previous models, these models deliver flexibility
in the specification and ordering of prelabeled and initialized cartridges.
Key prerequisites
These products are only for use with TS1150 tape drive
Model E08 or HD2-compatible model EH8. The latest versions of the TS1150
drive microcode and library or subsystem firmware may be required to support
3592 Advanced Tape Cartridge media.
