Quantum Announces New F-Series NVMe Storage - Fast. Fierce.
Today Quantum is announcing an ultra-fast, highly available storage array designed for studio editing, rendering, and other performance-intensive
workloads for large unstructured datasets.
The Quantum F-Series uses NVMe flash drives for ultra-fast reads and writes as well as RDMA networking technology to provide direct access between
workstations and the NVMe storage devices. Both the software and hardware architecture are designed to be highly available without a single point of
failure, ultimately providing maximum reliability for mission-critical applications and production processes.
The first product in the Quantum F-Series, the Quantum F2000, is a highly performant 2U storage server purpose built for NVMe. It has two hot-swappable
compute canisters that each have access to a total of 24 dual-ported NVMe drives, and include processing power, memory, and connectivity specifically
designed for the highest performance and availability.
The F-Series is based on the Quantum Cloud Storage Platform, a software-defined block storage stack tuned specifically for video and video-like data.
This future-proof software platform eliminates data services unrelated to video while enhancing critical capabilities such as enhanced data protection,
flexible networking and block interfaces.
Quantum F-Series will allow you to get things done faster by providing much faster throughput than a traditional SSD appliance. It will also help lower
infrastructure costs by enabling the move from Fibre Channel to Ethernet IP-based infrastructures.
