Overland Tandberg RDX QuikStation 4 Feature Enhancement
The
RDX QuikStation 4 offers now Tape Emulation Features as already known from the QuikStation 8
removable media appliances.
The new operational modes are:
- Emulated StorageLoader with one tape drive and 4 storage slots
- Emulated StorageLibrary T24 with two tape drives and 4 storage slots
The feature enhancement will be immediately available in firmware version 2.8. and now allows also smaller
companies with restrictive budgets to benefit from tape automation emulation.
Why Tape Emulation Mode?
- The tape emulation mode allows easy integration into backup applications with automated media
management.
- Media rotation will be performed automatically according to the backup job settings.
- Tape automation mode also supports backups spanned across multiple media in case backup data
extends media capacity.
- Backups on LTO are protected against virus and ransomware attacks. As the tape format is not a file system,
crypto lockers and viruses do not have a chance to infect the data, even if a tape media is in the drive.
