ExpressSAS Product Line Updates
from ATTO Techology
This service bulletin is to inform you that ATTO has released several important software updates for the ExpressSAS 12Gb SAS/SATA host bus adapater (HBA) product family.
This release includes:
• Drivers now support UEFI Secure Boot. The ATTO EFI driver is cryptographically signed to prevent the execution of malicious code during system boot. Secure boot is supported on Windows 8 and Server 2012, or later, as well as a variety of Linux and VMware distributions.
• Expanded support for Microsoft Storage Spaces and VMware Virtual SAN virtualized storage architectures.
• Continued support of Linux target mode driver which compliments the already-released Windows target mode driver for the 12Gb SAS/SATA HBAs. ATTO continues to support system integrators in the development of their own unique storage solutions.
• Enhanced support for Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA)
ecosystems.
Servers supporting NUMA offer efficient shared memory access to lower latency and improve overall IOPS. To work properly, NUMA depends on storage host adapters to be fully NUMA-aware. With this release, all ATTO ExpressSAS 12Gb/s SAS/SATA HBAs have been certified for use in NUMA-enabled servers, making them the perfect conncetivity choice for I/O intensive applications such as data mining, video post-production, and business analytics. ATTO NUMA-aware HBAs can provide up to 20% better performance than non-aware HBAs.
We recommend that all users update their adapters for optimum performance and reliability.
