RDX - Removable Disk Storage: Major
Milestone Reached - 200PBs of RDX Shipped
Milestones Demonstrate Value of ProStor’s Approach to Data Archive
ProStor Systems,
creators of the RDX Removable Disk Storage Technology and licensor of enterprise-class removable disk storage systems for business
backup, archiving, and retention management, to Companies such as Imation, HP,
Quantum, Tandberg Data, IBM and Dell, today announced that the company
has passed the milestone of 200 petabytes of their RDX® removable disk
technology shipped.
Our unique position as the only system vendor that can include
our successful RDX technology, as well as traditional disk, in our archive
storage solution gives us flexibility in data placement that other archive
vendors don’t have. Our customer success demonstrates the value of our approach.
The use of RDX disk within InfiniVault supports a
tiered archive approach that allows data to be placed on the right type of
storage for multiple usage patterns — online for fastest retrieval, nearline for
long-term data retention, offline for single-site disaster recovery, and offsite
for multi-site disaster recovery. InfiniVault is a combination of information
management software, online disk, and RDX removable disk that provides complete
data protection, continuous data access, security, and retention management
throughout the data’s extended lifespan.
ProStor is engaged with over 250 channel partners
selling the InfiniVault line. “InfiniVault has proven to be the ideal solution
for meeting the archiving requirements of our construction customers,” said Phil
Dixon, vice president of business development and marketing, Construction
Imaging. “This integrated solution provides the ease of access and performance
of online storage, with the economics of offline storage.”
The RDX® removable disk technology is sold by
seven OEM partners including leading server manufacturers Dell, HP, and IBM.
Combined, the RDX OEMs have shipped 200 petabytes of RDX capacity on over one
million RDX cartridges to 250,000 customers worldwide.
