Quantum Scalar i3, Scalar i6 and AEL6 iBlade Scalar LTFS interface, 10GbE-Dual FC, up to two drives, field upgrade Part# LSC3A-ABLA-02FA
For use with Scalar i3, Scalar i6 and AEL6 libraries using Fibre Channel drives. Maximum one iBlade per library.
Includes one iBlade that runs Scalar LTFS/NAS presentation layer software (CIFS for Windows and Mac, and NFS
for Linux). Two 10GbE copper ports with RJ-45 connections are provided for network connectivity, and two LC Fibre
Channel connections for connecting up to two LTO-6 FC and later drives.
The use of converged infrastructure is one tool available to improve efficiencies. The benefits of
converged solutions include reduced data center footprint, lower power and cooling costs, lower maintenance costs, and streamlined
management. These benefits are valuable, particularly for storage, as data growth has resulted in more complex infrastructure. Scalar iBlade
enables converged solutions with a server and supported applications integrated into Scalar i6 or Scalar i3 tape libraries.
Increased Efficiency
Scalar iBlade integrates into a Scalar i6 or Scalar i3 library without consuming data center rack space or additional power
drops—resulting in more efficient use of data center resources, including lower power and cooling costs plus easier management from a single,
integrated user interface.
Veeam Tape Server
Scalar iBlade for Veeam tape server enables a converged solution, eliminating the need for an external physical server. As companies
rely on the 3-2-1 policy for data protection along with an air gap for ransomware protection, tape continues to be a valuable tool for data protection. By
integrating the tape server into the library, Veeam customers can now realize the benefits of tape in a converged solution.
Scalar LTFS
Unstructured data is the fastest-growing data type for IT organizations across all industries. Active archives are a proven tool
for preserving and protecting these large and growing data sets. Scalar iBlade with Scalar linear tape file system (LTFS) enables a NAS tape archive for
file-based storage of unstructured data in a converged solution. The active archive provides easy access to users’ files because it’s just a NAS share, and
the integrated solution is easy for IT to manage and configure.
Features and Benefits
Converged Solution
Reduce CAPEX and OPEX by running embedded applications inside Scalar libraries.
Integrated Management
Save administration time by configuring and managing the
Scalar iBlade and Scalar libraries from a single interface.

Technical Specifications
Tape drives, cartridge slot licensing, and
media are not included. Cables are not included. Use LC-to-LC cables to connect the tape drives. Not compatible
with WORM media. For use only with the LTFS/NAS software; no other software or applications are supported.
iBlade must be installed in a separate partition from Storage Manager. Customer installable, but phone-based
installation (LSC33-NSYN-PB00) or onsite installation (SSC3A-NBLD-000x) is recommended. A Bronze, NBD Gold
or Gold Support Plan (SSC3x-SBLx-Cxxx) must also be added at the same service level as the system for each
drive. First ship date late JUL 2017.
