Overland SnapServer DX NAS and iSCSI SAN With SSDs
120GB, 240GB or 480GB
Overland Storage Inc. announced
that SSDs are supported in the
SnapServer DX2, a unified NAS and iSCSI SAN storage server.
With the option of utilizing SSD drives, IT managers can
now customize the SnapServer DX2 to increase levels of performance when required
in high IOP environments, such as virtualization, databases, file serving, and
virtual desktop infrastructures. It supports mixing and matching SSD, SAS and
SATA hard drives within a single chassis to optimize performance requirements of
multiple applications simultaneously, while offering storage consolidation and
data protection.
SSDs offer the following benefits:
- Speed:
SSDs provide increased IOPs and a much lower latency than tradition spinning
disk media.
- Reliability:
SSDs provide a MTBF of over two million hours and are more resistant to
shock and vibration, making them less likely to fail.
- Durability:
SSDs are reliable and for business critical applications since there are no
moving parts.
- Efficiency:
SSDs require less power and run at a lower temperature than traditional
drives, both of which provide cost savings.
Built upon the Guardian Operating System, the SnapServer
DX2 supports traditional or DynamicRAID for seamless storage expansion as
capacity requirements change over time. Expandable to 288TB and featuring an
array of integrated enterprise-class features including snapshots, replication
and remote management, it enables storage environments to scale without downtime
allowing any size business to run its storage like an enterprise at one-tenth
the cost.
"The SnapServer DX Series combined with SSDs is a
winning combination that enables our customers to customize their solutions to
meet the high performance requirements for business critical applications and
virtual environments," said Jeremy Zuber, product marketing manager, Overland
Storage. "With the SnapServer DX2, companies with increasing data demands now
have an ideal solution that easily grows with their business while providing
enterprise features and functionality at a price they can afford."
